What Exactly Is Nag Champa? Indigenous to India and Nepal and deeply rooted in both Hindu and Buddhist traditions, this earthy, floral and natural scent, known as Nag Champa , is sacred to the Hindu god, Vishnu. For centuries untold, it has been burned as incense in monasteries during sacred meditation and mindfulness ceremonies. Today, perfumers rely on its mystical, scintillating and sultry character for its exotic, ambery formulations. Nag Champa is hand-crafted and comprised of essential oils blended from diverse florals, resins, gums and pure scents such as: mellow lavender ; mysterious, lush champaca (frangipani); noble vanilla ; woody, spicy cardamom; warm cinnamon; soft intimate saffron, slightly musky black pepper, creamy sandalwood and the binding, terrine resin from the halmaddi tree, which helps the incense sustain a lingering and pleasurable burn. Its evolution as a perfume has brought about the inclusion of additional ingredients which include: passionate, musky, blooming rose oils; fresh, sugary orange blossom and narcotic, sugary and erotic ylang-ylang.
