The process of duplicating the signature scent of the Plaza Hotel was both a technical challenge and a deeply personal journey into olfactory memory and luxury.

We approached it with the reverence the Plaza deserves: a landmark that embodies timeless elegance, where every detail, from the grand lobby to the subtle embrace of its fragrance transports guests to a world of refined opulence.

The original Plaza signature, a lush gardenia-forward composition created in collaboration with Krigler, is diffused through the hotel's spaces to create an immediate sense of arrival and belonging.

It is soft yet commanding, floral yet grounded—evoking fresh blooms in a historic setting.

Our goal was never to merely copy but to capture the essence that greets visitors: that intoxicating wave of creamy gardenia wrapped in delicate sweetness, with hints of fruit and aquatic freshness that feel both welcoming and exclusive.

Using advanced techniques like gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), we broke down the volatile compounds.

This revealed the key players: the bright, sugary orange blossom and juicy raspberry in the top to draw you in; the dreamy heart dominated by smooth gardenia, musky red rose, and ethereal water lily; and the sensual dry-down of earthy white musk and soft, herbal woods that provide depth and longevity without overwhelming.

But science alone cannot recreate feeling. Gardenia is notoriously difficult—its natural extraction is rare and costly, so we rely on masterful synthetics and naturals to achieve that signature creaminess and opulence.

We spent countless hours in the lab blending and adjusting accords:
